This will be a weekly post that will cover interesting links I’ve stumbled across recently.
- Immediate Thoughts on the Random House eBook Imprint Contract Changes – John Scalzi’s thoughts after Random House change the contract terms it would offer through it’s new eBook only imprints. Good overview of some of the conditions in current authorial contracts and how some publishers treat authors.
- New Writers, eBook Publishers, and the Power to Negotiate – another Scalzi article but he was very productive (on his website at least!) with the whole Random House thing going on.
- How Storytelling Is Like Tantric Sex – Another great article from Chuck Wendig over on terribleminds that withholding things can add a lot to a story, whether that be description so the reader fills in the blanks or information to create mystery.
- Neil Gaiman’s Rules of Writing – a simple list but good advice for getting things done
This week I have been reading On Writing by Stephen King. Very interesting reading about his career before it dives into reams of useful advice.
