Return to the UK and on-going progress

I’m back home here in the UK after almost two weeks spent in the US. Went there for a friends wedding, and me and Clare turned it into a vacation as well. we went to New York, Orlando and D.C. and we saw all the things including two space shuttles. I am a happy and relaxed Jack.

The holiday, and a lot of plane flights, gave me plenty of opportunities to get some writing done as well. The good news is I’m making good progress with the second edit, the bad news is it’s taking me a lot longer than I thought.

Back when I started work on Oranje, back in the now distant days of January, I thought I could get it done by the end of the year. The optimist in me thinks that might still be possible, but the realist says it won’t. I’m over half way through the second edit, and the rest should only take a week or two. But I don’t know how many more edits will be needed after that.

All that said I’m really happy with how the book itself is going. I feel like I’m making real improvements with this second edit, and it’s giving me a good chance to make the whole thing better as well as work in some new elements I thought of when it was off with the editor.

So, the tl;dr, book is taking longer than expected but it will be good when it’s done. Also great holiday in America.
